Groovy Lava Lamps

Teach your little scientist about density with a fun experiment that they can keep! So grab a few household supplies and give this lava lamp science activity a try!

Materials

• Vegetable oil

• Water

• Food colouring

• Alka seltzer tabs

• Paper towels (just incase)

Instructions.

1. To begin, color about 1/2 cup of water with food coloring of your choice.

2. Fill a glass about 3/4 full with vegetable oil.

3. Then pour in the colored water until the liquid in the cup is about 1-2 inches from the top.

4. Add a piece of an Alka Seltzer tab to the cup.

5. Watch the magic happen!
